Debating Matters greatly values the support of our partners, past and present.
Debating Matters (DM) is delighted to announce our new prize partner: The Economist Educational Foundation (TEEF).
The Economist Educational Foundation is an independent charity that was set up from inside The Economist newspaper, combining over 180 years of journalistic expertise with deep educational know-how and a decade of experience fostering high-quality topical discussions in schools.
The winning school of each Debating Matters competition will receive a year’s subscription to The Economist newspaper.
In addition, at DM, we encourage all teachers, who seek to inspire students aged 10- to 16 to check out TEEF’s Topical Talk programme , which includes:
1. Free weekly lessons about the news
2. Topical Talk Festival – annual global news festival from January-March, where students from 19+ countries discuss their views with one another and leading topic experts, with the opportunity to win stars and prizes for their contributions .
3. Topical Talk Prizes – collections of resources that culminate in competitions, including the opportunity to win feedback from Economist journalists as well as prizes for themselves and their school.
The Economist Educational Foundation partners with Multi-Academy Trusts serving low income communities, training staff and giving support to embed Topical Talk effectively into the curriculum. Get in touch with the team at foundation@economist.com if this is of interest.
