Adam Albazy is President of the Durham Union Society. He is a third-year undergraduate reading Politics and History at Durham University, specialising in Middle Eastern affairs. He is also a keen debater, participating in Durham Union debates on topics ranging from the Iranian regime to COVID-19.
Before becoming President, Adam served as Treasurer and Steward of the Society. As President, he has introduced a new Durham Union podcast series, planned for the creation of a Welfare Officer, held a 24-hour debate in support of charitable causes and collaborated with Debating Matters on the Debating Matters Durham Championship 2023. After university, Adam hopes to pursue a career in law and is a prospective GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) student.
