BERLIN 2017

DM Berlin 2017 -- 28 FEBRUARY 2017

In partnership with Freiblickinstitut e.V. the Institute of Ideas Debating Matters Competition will be returning to Germany for Debating Matters Berlin 2017.

Following on from the success of our Berlin showcase in 2015, the city’s students will again be invited to debate a range of contemporary issues in the challenging Debating Matters format including whether humanity should fear advances in artificial intelligence, if technology can solves society’s environmental issues, and if the risks competitors face in contact sports are worth accepting, or whether society needs to intervene to protect people.

Students will have the opportunity to debate key real-world issues in English, and their efforts judged by professionals from a wide range of professional backgrounds, experiences and areas of expertise in an engaging, conversational but challenging format.

Debating Matters Berlin will be hosted by venue partner BiTS Hochschule and is sponsored by HeGo Biotec. Eight schools from across the city will compete for the title of ‘Champions 2017’.
